Report on construction of R35 was discussed by the government yesterday

26. 1. 2010

Report on construction of expressway R35 was discussed by the government yesterday. The government discusses preparation and construction work on this project every 6 months. Building of a parallel road with higher capacity now depends on decision of two regional governments. Liberec municipal council plans to reach a decision concerning the road near Cesky raj in February. The second decision will take place this spring in Pardubice region. Among the considered solutions is also a PPP project.

The expressway R35, which is to be 258 km long in the future, at the moment offers only 59 kilometres in Olomouc region (Mohelnice - Olomouc - Lipník nad Bečvou), 2.95 km in Hradec Kralove region (Sedlice - Opatovice) and 16.1 km in Liberec region (Liberec - Turnov). The remaining 180 km are still on the paper and in many cases it is not clear at all, where exactly is the expressway to be situated.

Government representative for building the expressway R35 and former hetman for Pardubice region Ivo Toman claims that at least part of the R35 expressway between Opatovice and Vysoké Mýto (30 km) should be realised using the PPP method. Government plans to decide if is leaves building of highways in the Czech Republic on private companies or not at the end of February.
